During the 2016 Rio Olympics, Boise’s Kristin Armstrong, won Olympic gold in the cycling time trial. This win came just one day before her 43rd birthday, which makes her the oldest woman to have won an Olympic gold medal. Wet and windy weather did hold Kristin back, she completed her event with a time of 44.26.

“Today the stars aligned. I knew it was going to be a close race. My coach said to me, ‘Okay, you decide what color medal you want to have.’ I dug so deep.”

Kristin, a University of Idaho Alumni, spent a few days in Rio with her family before returning back to Boise Monday. Boise is ready to celebrate her win, hard work and dedication. The mayor’s office is in the process of planning a celebration, stayed tuned to the City of Boise for more details.
