Two Guinness World Records Set

John Schwartz, BMW driving instructor, recently set the record for “Greatest Distance Vehicle Drift” traveling sideways driving an all-new BMW M5. He traveled for a total of 232.5 miles which took eight hours around the skid pad at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, South Carolina. Just to make things more exciting, the car was refueled jet- fighter style. During the record attempt, the fuel car would drift up beside the record car and transfer between 15-18 gallons of fuel in 50 seconds.

BMW set a second record that day when John Schwartz (record driver) and Matt Mullins (fuel driver) drifted side by side for 49.3 miles over the course of an hour, earning the “longest twin-vehicle drift”. What a way to top off the day!
